Kit Harington gets viewers through "brutal" Gunpowder
Jon Snow was finally back on our screens tonight (October 21).
Well, sort of. Kit Harington was at least, starring in his gruesome new BBC One drama Gunpowder, which is all about Guy Fawkes and Co's failed Gunpowder Plot.
Kit stars as Robert Catesby – the driving force behind the infamous mission to blow up parliament in 1605.
Downton Abbey's Tom Cullen plays Guy Fawkes and Mark Gatiss is Chief Robert Cecil, spymaster and head of torture to the Catholics, while Liv Tyler stars as Catesby's cousin Anne Vaux.
Naturally, people couldn't help but make constant Jon Snow references:

These guys aren't going to take on Jon Snow. He's got dragons on his team. That would be foolish. #Gunpowder #GoT

Kit did warn Digital Spy Gunpowder is pretty brutal, saying: "It's a very violent time, we have to show the violence the Catholics incurred, the violence in this period, to show why they might have gone on to do these things."
Fair enough and everything, but that didn't stop viewers from hiding behind their sofas:
Oh my god this is brutal seriously. #Gunpowder pic.twitter.com/Oqx0uO5sSR
