Kit Harington has revealed upcoming Game Of Thrones sequel Jon Snow will explore his character's feelings of guilt and mental instability.

The 35-year-old actor made his name playing the warrior in the HBO fantasy series and as reported by Entertainment Weekly has spoken for the first time about the upcoming sequel centred around his character, during a Q&A session at the official Game of Thrones Convention in Los Angeles.

Harington said: "I think where we leave him at the end of the show, there’s always this feeling of like… I think we wanted some kind of little smile that things are okay. He’s not okay.”

The Eternals star elaborated: "I think if you asked him, he would've felt he got off lightly. At the end of the show when we find him in that cell, he's preparing to be beheaded and he wants to be. He's done. The fact he goes to the Wall is the greatest gift and also the greatest curse."

"He's gotta go back up to the place with all this history and live out his life thinking about how he killed Dany [Queen Daenerys played by Emilia Clarke], and live out his life thinking about Ygritte [played by Rose Leslie] dying in his arms, and live out his life thinking about how he hung Olly [Brenock O'Connor], and live out his life thinking about all of this trauma, and that…That's interesting."

George RR Martin confirmed earlier this year that a Jon Snow spin-off series is in the works, and that is was Harington's own idea to make one.

Writing about the project on his blog, Martin said: "Yes, there is a Jon Snow show in development. Yes, it was Kit Harington who brought the idea to us.

"I cannot tell you the names of the writers/ showrunners, since that has not been cleared for release yet … but Kit brought them in too, his own team, and they are terrific."

Some Game of Thrones fans were disappointed by the ending to the hit show.

HBO aired prequel series House Of The Dragon this year, set 200 years before the events seen in Game Of Thrones and following the Targaryen family.

Jon Snow is set after the events of GoT.
