Knife attacker on the run after stabbing teenage boy in Bristol

Police are searching for a knife attacker after a teenage boy was stabbed in Bristol city centre. Police officers were called to the scene at Cabot Circus at around 7.40pm today, Thursday, June 27, shortly after the attack took place.

A cordon is in place near McDonald's on the junction of The Horsefair, Hanover Court and Concorde Street. A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said officers are currently searching for the suspect, who is reported to have been part of a small group of young people who fled following the attack.

The boy, believed to be younger than 16-years-old, has been taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. His next of kin are aware.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a large emergency service presence around Cabot Circus this evening. One person said: "Lots of police cars and ambulance at Cabot Circus this evening by McDonald's with police tape. Looks serious."

Avon and Somerset Police are now appealing for information from anyone who saw what happened. The force said in a statement: "Police are investigating after a teenage boy was stabbed in Bristol earlier this evening, Thursday 27 June.

"The 999 call came in at about 7.40pm, just after the attack which happened near the junction of The Horsefair, Hanover Court and Concorde Street. Officers attended immediately. The suspect was reported to have been part of a small group of young people who fled after the assault.

"The boy went to hospital with injuries which are not currently believed to be life-threatening. He is believed to be under 16 and his next of kin are aware. Uniformed officers are searching for the suspect.
