'All you need to know is I love her': Couple renew wedding vows 62 years on

A couple "who give and take and listen to each other" have renewed their wedding vows more than six decades on in front of family.

Francis Woods, 94, and his wife, Jean, 83, decided to reaffirm their marriage at Care UK’s Glastonbury Court, on Glastonbury Road, Bury St Edmunds, as Frank wanted to make Jean "feel special again".

The ceremony was attended by 18 family members and friends, with Jean walking down the aisle to Shostakovich’s ‘The Gladfly’.

The couple's great-grandchildren had the honour of serving as bridesmaids and page boys.

The ceremony's officiator was the couple's son-in-law, Reverend David Crofts.

The highlight for many was Frank's vow, where he stated: "I can’t remember all that, but all you need to know is I love her."

After an exchange of vows, everyone enjoyed a wedding buffet and a champagne toast to the couple.

Jean and Frank shared their secret to a long and happy marriage: "To give and take, and listen to each other", and Jean jokingly added: "For your husband to do as he is told."

Ana Mihai, home manager at Glastonbury Court, said: “Congratulations to the happy couple.

"It's easy to see just how much they adore each other – they’re a real inspiration to us all.

She continued, sharing how the team at the home had transformed it into a "lavish wedding venue" to create the perfect setting.

"We were honoured to play a part in such an important occasion."

Jean and Frank's story began in Diss and Ely, respectively.

Jean used to walk past the curry shop that Frank managed daily, and after many sightings, they began talking.

Their first date was at a 21st birthday party in East Dereham, Norfolk, in 1960.

Two years on, they tied the knot at the Swaffham Methodist Church on a hot summer's day, later becoming parents to two children, Jackie and Andrew.
