It's not often that shows get revived twice, but then again, most shows don't have as passionate a fanbase as the marshmallows who love Veronica Mars.

The rumours of a second revival are indeed true! Kristen Bell announced on Twitter on Thursday (September 20) that streaming service Hulu has ordered an eight-episode miniseries to premiere in the US next year.

Unfortunately, there's no word yet on a UK home home for the new Veronica Mars. For fans in the US, you'll be able to stream the first three seasons and the prior revival movie next summer ahead of the miniseries.

Hulu has also confirmed recent talk that the creator Rob Thomas's storyline will see Mars Investigations trailing a serial killer on the loose in Neptune.

Here's the official synopsis: "Spring breakers are getting murdered in Neptune, thereby decimating the seaside town's lifeblood tourist industry. After Mars Investigations is hired by the parents of one of the victims to find their son's killer, Veronica is drawn into an epic eight-episode mystery that pits the enclave's wealthy elites, who would rather put an end to the month-long bacchanalia, against a working class that relies on the cash influx that comes with being the West Coast's answer to Daytona Beach."

Hulu hasn't yet confirmed any casting beyond Bell, but come on, it won't be much of a revival unless Dick Casablancas and Logan show up, right?

Bell will somehow be fitting in filming Veronica Mars in between episodes of her other series, NBC's The Good Place. Series creator Rob Thomas is working on his own final season of comic book adaptation iZombie for The CW as well.
