Kym Marsh weighs in on Jenna Coleman's bikini audition

From Digital Spy

Coronation Street star Kym Marsh has weighed in on Jenna Coleman's 'bikini audition' experience, admitting that she's "confused" by the anecdote.

Writing in her column for this week's OK! Magazine, Kym reflected on her own experiences as an actress, revealing that "nothing like that" has ever happened to her.

Jenna, who's the lead in Bodyguard's replacement The Cry, told The Sun earlier this month that she "was asked to turn up to an audition in a bikini" in Los Angeles.

Understandably, Jenna refused to attend the audition – something Kym agreed with. "Like Jenna, that would definitely put me off!" she wrote.

"Nothing like that has happened to me, but I'm confused as to why she was asked to turn up wearing one. I can't imagine anything that would make me agree to wear a bikini to an audition."

Although "confusing", the Corrie actress added that such an experience wasn't all that surprising. "Sadly, if you were at the beginning of your career you might think it's the norm," she wrote.

"But it definitely isn't necessary."

Fortunately, we imagine Jenna had no need for a bikini when she auditioned for the BBC's latest Sunday-night drama The Cry, in which she plays a young mum struggling to cope with the loss of her first child.

After Coleman's Joanna and Ewan Leslie's Alister relocate to Australia in the series, their newborn suddenly goes missing, leading the couple's already fragmented relationship to unravel further.
