Yahoo News ‘La Exorcista’’s Adrián García Bogliano Unveils Teaser, First Image of New Thriller ‘Someone’s at the Door’ (EXCLUSIVE)
Madrid-born horror meister Adrián García Bogliano, behind “La Exorcista,” one of 2022’s highest-grossing films in Mexico, has unveiled a teaser and first still of his new thriller “Someone’s at the Door,” which had a special presentation at Cannes’ genre business hub Fantastic Pavilion last May.
Produced by Carlos Meléndez’s Mr.Blue (“Hysteria,” “Scherzo Diabólico”) as well as executive producer Andrea Quiroz’s Salto de Fe Films (García Bogliano’s 2012 s “Here Comes the Devil,” “Black Circle”), “Someone’s at the Door” features newcomer Alexis Cárdenas, Samantha Coronel (“Medea”) and “This Is Not Berlin” actor Mauro Sánchez Navarro.

García Bogliano’s love triangle drama follows the unexpected reunion between former high school classmates Alicia and Marianela, whose initially warm meeting takes a sinister turn. Alicia, portrayed by Cárdenas, becomes deeply suspicious of Marianela, played by Coronel, as she senses an affair between her husband (Sánchez) and her mentally perturbed friend.
García Bogliano describes his film as a “suspense machine” that delves into complex and provocative themes about the dual nature of friendship, repressed sexual desires, and the scheming that lurks within relationships.
“I’ve put everything I’ve learned in my 14 previous films into this one. It’s been challenging to work with actors and staging at this level of precision and I’m sure the film won’t leave the audience indifferent,” said García Bogliano who sought a minimalist backdrop to his drama.
Born in Madrid, Argentine-bred and now based out of Mexico, García Bogliano is one of the directors behind the inaugural slate of The Latin House of Horror, launched by El Estudio and Morbido at Cannes last year. The slate aims to rev up genre production in Latin America, in terms of ambition, profile and exports, El Estudio’s Enrique López Lavigne told Variety at the time.
García Bogliano’s project for the Latin House of Horror is titled “Family,” about a teenage girl who discovers that her parents were involved in witchcraft some years back, and made a Faustian pact to exchange their souls for wealth and success.
“Someone’s at the Door” is expected to be hitting the film festival circuit shortly. The Fantastic Pavilion was launched last year in Cannes by Pablo Guisa Koestinger, its executive director and founder-CEO of the Morbido Group, one of Latin America’s leading horror brands.
