LA Police Left Holding Baby After 2 Detained Amid Chaotic Clashes Outside Synagogue

Amid chaotic clashes outside a synagogue in Los Angeles on June 23, police were literally left holding the baby after detaining two people in whose SUV the child was found.

Footage of the incident was captured by Los Angeles Scanner, who called the scenes “absolute chaos.” The video shows a clash between a pro-Israel crowd and two people in an SUV. The woman in the vehicle stands up through the sunroof, from where she gives the crowd the middle finger, and makes a shooting gesture with her hand.

The woman and the man driving the SUV are handcuffed by police who arrive, before the child is found in a baby seat in the car.

Fights broke out between pro-Palestinian and pro-Israel groups outside the Adas Torah synagogue in West Pico Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said the “violence in the Pico-Robertson neighborhood today was abhorrent, and blocking access to a place of worship is unacceptable.” Credit: Los Angeles Scanner via Storyful
