Lainey Wilson Announces Hulu Special and New AlbumAmy Sussman

Lainey Wilson fans are in for a treat on Wednesday, May 29.

The “Country’s Cool Again” singer is coming to our living rooms in the Hulu special Lainey Wilson: Bell Bottom Country.

On Monday, May 6, ABC News shared the official trailer for the special, which was produced by Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts’ production unit at ABC News Studios.

“I experienced a lot of rejection, a lot of heartache,” Lainey says in the trailer. “I’m a tough woman but it’s not easy—I have my days where you got to do whatever you can to crawl out of those dark holes.”

In the trailer, she goes on to discuss feeling lonely, doubtful, terrified, and discouraged while reminiscing on making her way to Nashville as a 19 year old. “I was a fish out of water—at times, I was too country for country,” she says. “...but momma and daddy didn’t raise no quitter.”

As the trailer hints, the much-anticipated special is going to offer an up close and personal look into Lainey’s life (and her journey to becoming a Grammy Award-winning artist) like never before.

Naturally, fans can’t help but feel excited for this exposé-style look into Lainey’s life. “I can hardly wait to see this! I’m SO looking forward to watching,” one fan exclaimed in the comments section of the trailer. “Can't wait to see you rock one more thing!! You are not only changing country music, you are changing lives,” another fan quipped. “Your strength is your beauty. Your music is your legacy. So Authentic,” someone else commented.

As if a documentary-style special isn’t enough to get her fans going, Lainey upped the ante on Thursday, May 9, announcing that she’s also releasing her brand-new album Whirlwind on August 23.

“Whirlwind. That’s what my life has been the last couple years,” she captioned the announcement post. “I hope this record brings peace to your ‘whirlwind’ and wraps its arms around you like it did me when I was writing and recording it.”
