Latest Surrey weather forecast as four-day heat wave alert issued

A heatwave is forecast to hit Surrey this week, with temperatures set to reach peaks of 28C in some places. The UK Health Security Agency has issued a major heat warning for four days, covering the whole of Surrey.

The alert, comes into force today (June 24), warns people fo the danger of increased deaths among vulnerable and older people due to the extreme heat expected throughout the week. Woking and Staines are expected to sweat in 28C heat while temperatures will reach 27C in Dorking, Guildford, Horley and Farnham on Tuesday (June 25) and Wednesday (June 26).

Temperatures are set to drop towards the end of the week, with Woking losing six degrees between Tuesday and Friday.

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Dan Rudman said:"Some central and southern areas are likely to see temperatures approaching the values needed for heatwave conditions. Heatwave conditions need to remain in situ for three consecutive days, and by the beginning to middle of next week it is possible that some parts of the UK could be reaching heatwave thresholds."

London & South East England weather forecast

Today: Dry and very warm with sunny spells today. Perhaps some patchy fog on Kent and Sussex coasts. Light sea breezes will bring a somewhat cooler feel to the coast. Maximum temperature 27 °C.

Into tonight, mild overnight. Lengthy clear spells are likely, but with the odd mist or fog patch developing in prone spots. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

Tuesday: Any early fog patches rapidly clearing. Then a dry and very warm or hot day, with plenty of sunny spells likely. Maximum temperature 29 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday: Mostly dry and very warm or hot on Wednesday and Thursday with some sunny spells. A weakening band of light rain on Thursday night will introduce cooler air for Friday.
