Lauren Sánchez gets emotional as her eldest son, Nikko, graduates college
Lauren Sánchez celebrates her eldest son Nikko's college graduation.
Sánchez maintains a friendly co-parenting relationship with her ex, Tony Gonzalez.
The post comes just days after Sánchez made her Met Gala debut alongside fiancé Jeff Bezos.
Lauren Sánchez celebrated her eldest child Nikko's college graduation on Thursday with a touching Instagram post.
"Really emotional day for me," the Emmy-winning news anchor and philanthropist fiancée of Jeff Bezos wrote.
"My firstborn graduated from college today! My heart is overflowing with pride for this incredible young man. It seems like yesterday your dad and I were carrying you in our arms."
In one image, the philanthropist can be seen holding a toddler-aged Nikko, while in another picture, Nikko and dad Tony Gonzalez, the former NFL tight end, smile for the camera.
"I just want you to know how immensely proud I am of you for achieving this milestone," Sánchez added. "This is just the beginning, Nikko, and I hope you continue chasing your dreams with relentless originality. I love you so much."
Sanchez has maintained a friendly co-parenting relationship with her ex, Tony Gonzalez since their split. Gonzalez is a former star NFL tight end who played for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Atlanta Falcons.
Sanchez, Gonzalez, and his wife October are often seen socializing together, and are so close that Gonzalez was even on Bezos' $500 million superyacht together with the newly-engaged couple, Page Six reported.
After having Nikko, now 23, with Gonzalez, Sánchez had two more children — Evan, 17, and Ella, 16 — with her Hollywood executive ex-husband, Patrick Whitesell.
Sánchez has often praised her eldest son on social media.
In January, Sánchez expressed her excitement at watching Nikko make his runway debut in Dolce & Gabbana's Fall/Winter 2024-2025 menswear show in Milan.
"Just a proud mama," Sánchez, 54, captioned a video on Instagram of Nikko partaking in the fashion show.
To mark his birthday in February 2023, she wrote in an Instagram post: "You make life an adventure and I am so lucky to be a part of your journey."
"I'm so proud of you, and I love you more than you can imagine."
Sánchez's social media tribute comes days after she and fiancé Jeff Bezos made their Met Gala debut.
Sánchez donned a strapless Oscar de la Renta dress that featured a black velvet bodice flowing into a voluminous skirt decorated with giant roses designed to appear like shattered glass.
"It's not just a dress," she told Vogue. "It is really a piece of art."
Sánchez's ensemble perfectly fit the night's "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" theme, which had a dress code of "Garden of Time."
She told Vogue that she wanted something different for her first Met Gala than the "extremely sexy, low cut" styles she tends to go for.
"I felt it was extremely unique and has a sense of femininity," she added.
