The organisers of the League Cup have set themselves up for further ridicule after announcing that the draw for the Third Round of the competition will be made in Beijing, at 4.15am BST.

The Third Round sees Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal, along with all other sides involved in European competition this season, enter the hat for the first time.

The Second Round draw, held at Sky Sports studios in London, had already caused enough trouble when former Crystal Palace man John Salako struggled to work out who was being drawn as the home side on a number of occasions.

There was further confusion when presenter Julian Warren declared West Ham to be the home side against Cheltenham, seemingly unaware that the Hammers are unable to play their games at the London Stadium while it’s converted back into a football ground having hosted the World Athletic Championships.

The draw, taking place at approximately 11:15am local time on Thursday morning, will go back to the more familiar unseeded format after the regional seeded and non-seeded format from the last round caused most of the confusion.
