At Least 2 Killed After Helicopter Crashes Into Pompano Beach Building

At least two people were killed and four hospitalized after a Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) helicopter crashed into an apartment building in Pompano Beach, Florida, on Monday, August 28, sheriff Gregory Tony told reporters.

BSO Captain Terryson Jackson was among the dead, along with a civilian who was inside the apartment building the helicopter crashed into, the sheriff said.

Of the four hospitalized, two were traveling in the helicopter, a local official told reporters. All four were in “fair condition,” the official said.

The incident took place around 8:46 am near the Pompano Beach Airpark, the BSO confirmed.

A stretch of Dixie Highway was closed to traffic as first responders worked on the scene, the BSO said.
