Leeds Rhinos' Ash Handley linked with Super League rival with NRL duo identified

Catalans Dragons have been linked with a surprise move for Leeds Rhinos winger Ash Handley. Reports from France claim the speedster is one of three targets the club has in mind as they prepare for the 2025 season.

According to L'Independant, the 28-year-old is one of three wingers Steve McNamara has in mind as he looks to find a second new player in the position for next season. With Tom Johnstone set for a move to Wakefield Trinity and Tom Davies expected to be a Hull KR player in 2025, Catalans have already moved to secure a deal for St Helens' Tommy Makinson.

But in need of another winger, Handley is now being reported as a potential target, despite the fact he is under contract with the Rhinos until the end of the 2026 season. The link is certainly left-field considering Handley's contract length, as well as the fact that he has spent his entire career at Headingley.

He has enjoyed an excellent start to the season too, scoring eight Super League tries in as many appearances so far this season. Leeds have, of course, already signed Ryan Hall for next season, though David Fusitu'a is off-contract at the end of the season.

Handley isn't the only player linked to the Dragons. NRL stalwart Daniel Tupou is also mentioned, with the Tonga international boasting an excellent record of 148 tries in 248 NRL appearances. He is off-contract at the end of the season.

And another is Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, the 28-year-old New Zealand Warriors flier who is contracted until 2025. He has been playing regularly for the Warriors this year and boasts a career record of 91 tries in 197 NRL games.

Changes are expected in Perpignan, with the Dragons already losing Mike McMeeken to Wakefield ahead of the 2025 season.
