Leeds Rhinos discover Brodie Croft injury verdict with two further blows confirmed

Leeds Rhinos will be without Brodie Croft for their trip to Catalans Dragons. The halfback suffered a groin injury during the club's victory over London Broncos and the setback is serious enough to see him ruled out of the trip to France.

The issue is only thought to be a minor one and Croft should be available for selection when they return to action after a break next week, when the Challenge Cup semi-finals will be played.

"Brodie has a minor groin issue that will keep him out of this week's game but he'll most likely return after the break," Smith confirmed. He will not feature in the 21-man squad when it is announced on Thursday.

Elsewhere, Paul Momirovski's layoff has now been confirmed, with the ankle injury he suffered set to keep him off the field for another four-to-six weeks. Riley Lumb has torn his hamstring and the club are waiting on scan results to determine whether he will need to have surgery after the injury he suffered against the Broncos.

"Lumby has done a decent hamstring, he's going to see a consultant to see if surgery is required but it's going to be a lengthy layoff either way." On Momirovski, Smith added: "Paul will be four to six weeks. He's healing really well as he speculated that he might, the physios are happy with his progress but he'll be in a boot a bit longer, then we'll start the rehab process.

Tom Holroyd will miss the Catalans game too but should return against St Helens later this month after his concussion issues, while James Bentley is set to miss another two months of action. In better news, Harry Newman trained on Tuesday and Smith is hopeful that he will be cleared to feature when they take on Steve McNamara's side.

"He's progressing well, it's just a matter of going through the stages and working out whether he's going to be right to play."
