Leeds United face second midfield transfer decision as French side make enquiry

Ligue 1 side Rennes are ready to make a move for Leeds United midfielder Glen Kamara, according to reports in France. Leading French media outlet L’Equipe report the former Rangers star has been identified as a target as they prepare for two exits.

Leeds are facing up to a plethora of interest in their players after they missed out on a place in the Premier League last season. Archie Gray has been the subject of a bid from Brentford, with Tottenham looking to seal a move for the Leeds youngster, while Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter and Willy Gnonto have all been linked with a move away.

However, Rennes have already lost Nemanja Matic and Fabian Rieder and Enzo Le Fee is expected to follow them out of the exit door, with Italian giants Roma ready to make a move, meaning the French side are looking for midfield reinforcements.

Reports suggest Kamara is the man they could turn to, with the 28-year-old Finland international likely to cost around £5m. He arrived from Rangers last summer and initially commanded a place in the heart of the Leeds midfield.

He was dropped from the starting line-up towards the end of the season, but won his place back for the two-legged play-off semi-final win over Norwich and the Wembley final against Southampton. In total he made 42 appearances under Daniel Farke last term.

Leeds could see Gray leave in the coming days, with Ilia Gruev also the subject of interest from Borussia Dortmund. They have Ethan Ampadu who could move into central midfield, but that would require more defensive signings with the Welshman used in central defence for the majority of last season.
