The new Championship season will take a big step closer this week when the EFL fixtures are released on Wednesday morning. As fans rush to check their side's schedule for the coming 10 months, you can bet plenty of them will be checking out when they face Leeds.

Daniel Farke's men remain the big draw in the divison in the coming campaign, even with the likes of Burnley and Sheffield United returning after a season the Premier League. There are some big clubs competing for promotion again, and games against Sunderland, Middlesbrough and even newly-promoted Portsmouth are likely to get fans excited.

The managers aren't immune from the thrill - just ask Millwall boss Neil Harris. He's looking forward to the new season as much as anyone . . . and revealed Leeds United are the one team he always looks out for when the Lions' fixtures are announced.

“I always like to be at home the first game of the season,” Harris said. “And I always look to when we play Leeds home and away, they are always a key one for me.

“I always look for the Christmas schedule, that is vitally important for the balance of the football club, for fixtures and for family life – it is a key period.

“Other than that, you have an individual opinion on the games you’d like first up and teams you don’t want to face. Ultimately the fixtures are drawn randomly and you get who you are given. We look forward to Wednesday, I always think it’s a big day in the annual football calendar.

“Even during the Euros, when there is a football focus, that is international football – fixtures release day in the EFL really sets the tone for a huge part of the population to start thinking about club football again.”

Leeds certainly enjoyed both games against Millwall last season, winning 3-0 at the New Den in September and then running out 2-0 winners at Elland Road in March.
