Leeds United given exciting transfer message to solve Summerville and Rutter problem

Leeds United would be signing an 'exciting' talent who could help fill the potential void left by Crysencio Summerville or Georginio Rutter's exit should they firm up their interest in Coventry City's Callum O'Hare.

That's the verdict of former Aston Villa, Tottenham and Rangers defender Alan Hutton, who worked with a young O'Hare at Villa Park. Daniel Farke is looking at a range of options in the summer transfer market, but knows he may have to replace some key players before deadline day.

Summerville and Rutter could be two of those who are sold as the Whites look to make inroads on financial defecits, with Italian winger Willy Gnonto also linked with a move away. It means Farke could be looking for some creative options before the season gets under way, with Coventry playmaker O'Hare one of those identified as potential targets.

The 26-year-old played a key role in the Sky Blues' Championship season and FA Cup run, scoring 10 goals in 36 appearances for Mark Robins' side, including a strike at Wembley in the dramatic FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United, which they ultimately lost on penalties. However, he is out of contract this summer and is set to leave the club and look for a new challenge

Hutton knows exactly what O'Hare could bring to Farke's side - and has backed him to make a big impact should Leeds decide to make a move.

“He fits the bill that Leeds like, he’s an exciting player,” he told Football Insider. “Especially if they’re going to lose somebody like Summerville or Rutter who could possibly be leaving this summer as well.

“They’re going to need to bring somebody in to replace these guys. I know Callum O’Hare well, I’ve played alongside him when I was at Villa.

“He’s very technically gifted, he’s got an eye for a pass and he can score goals, and he’s still at a good age and he’s got experience at this level. I think that is something Leeds are definitely looking at and he suits them well."

Leeds are still waiting for a firm offer for Summerville, with Brighton the first club to have made an equiry. Liverpool and Chelsea have both been linked with the £35m-rated Dutchman, with his future likely to be decided in the coming weeks.
