Time is running out on this season for Leeds United and there is less onus on managing players’ minutes with only two games to go. Monday’s win lifted a lot of pressure off the club’s collective shoulders after one victory in five matches and should have boosted the confidence of all involved.

Therefore, if everyone has come through that game in one piece, and can make it to the start line tomorrow night, they would retain their place in my XI. As Daniel Farke told us on Thursday, Patrick Bamford is a big enough doubt for the manager to mention it.

The German said there were a few other players requiring late decisions after bumps and bruises on Teesside, but, one assumes, they are more likely than not to make it to kick-off. If Bamford’s bruise is too painful for the striker to overcome, Mateo Joseph is where I would go at the tip of the attack.

Joel Piroe has not convinced as a starter or reinforcement from the bench for months, while Joseph has repeatedly looked threatening when he gets on the field. Farke did reveal there were nerves in the camp before Monday’s match, which influenced his decision to start with Bamford at Riverside Stadium.

Hopefully, with a win under their belts, Joseph will not be too adversely affected by the occasion at Queens Park Rangers, if he is needed. Elsewhere in the team, there is neither the appetite for changing much nor the compelling alternatives waiting in the wings.

Glen Kamara has the mileage in his legs to do a job, but Archie Gray was promising in midfield on Monday night and provides the attacking impetus the Finn has been lacking.

Beren’s XI: Meslier; Byram, Rodon, Ampadu, Firpo; Gray, Gruev; Gnonto, Rutter, Summerville; Joseph.
