Leeds United's Liam Cooper has been named in the provisional Scotland squad for this summer's European Championships. Scotland manager Steve Clarke today revaled a squad of 28 players, with 26 heading to Germany.

The Scots get the tournament under way on June 14 when they face hosts Germany, and will be hoping to spring a surprise or two. They will also face Switzerland and Hungary in Group A.

Cooper has been a regular in the Scotland set-up when fit, with the 32-year-old making 18 appearances for his country since winning his first cap in 2019. However, he has slipped down the pecking order at Elland Road this season, with Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon the preferred centre-back pairing.

While he has made 19 appearances for the Whites under Daniel Farke this season, he only started eight Championship games, and with his current contract expiring in June, Sunday's play-off final could be his last involvement in a Leeds shirt.

Cooper played the full 90 minutes of Scotland's 1-0 defeat to Northern Ireland in March and also started a 4-1 defeat to France in October.

Today's squad announcement provided confirmation that Premier League right-backs Aaron Hickey and Nathan Patterson will miss the tournament through injury along with Bologna midfielder Lewis Ferguson.

Scotland play two friendlies against Gibraltar on June 3 and Finland four days later, with Clarke set to cull two members of the current group by June 8 - the weekend before the Scots kick off the tournament against host nation Germany in Munich.
