Leeds United and their rivals across England can now officially do business with the opening of the 2024 summer transfer window today.

This hasn't prevented the transfer madness from beginning prematurely. Leeds have already been engulfed in their fair share of speculation, with suggestions of numerous major outgoings to pay off transfer debt creating a Financial Fair Play (FFP) storm.

"Let me lead with this: we are well-capitalised from an investment standpoint. We have the funds we need to do what we need to do. The reality of being in the Championship is P&S [Profit and Sustainability Rules] plays a role," chairman Paraag Marathe has since explained.

"We also inherited a challenging situation, which you guys have all seen, so there will naturally need to be some trade-offs, but it's not just outs, it’s ins as well."

Clarifying that bit of hope towards signings, he added: "We have a really good team looking at scouting possibilities for impressive players we can bring in. We will have to make some trade-offs because of P&S, but we have the investment committed, that commitment, we need, to do what we need to do."

The club will enter a second season in the Championship after suffering play-off heartbreak at Wembley Stadium, and the more that happens off-field, the more challenges there will be for Daniel Farke on-field.

Top-quality additions are possibly the best way to offset any particular outgoings involving players adored in West Yorkshire, so which players are currently expected to come and go from Elland Road this summer? Leeds Live analyses the summer window to come with the help from Sky Bet's latest next club betting market:

Departures

Archie Gray

From his 52 appearances last campaign, 18-year-old Archie Gray has caught the eye of some of the Premier League's elite. The highly-rated youngster displayed versatility most could not, filling in across midfield and even at full-back when called upon by Farke. It has been said decisions will be made as and when a concrete approach comes forward this summer as the FFP situation continues to dictate matters, and at the current moment the favourites to capitalise are Chelsea.

New boss Enzo Maresca got a personal look at Gray when his former side Leicester played Leeds twice last season. But, if the Italian is to make a move he faces competition from the rest of the top-flight's 'Big Six'.

Gray next club odds:

  • Chelsea 3/1 F

  • Tottenham Hotspur 6/1

  • Liverpool 7/1

  • Manchester City 8/1

  • Arsenal 12/1

  • Crystal Palace 12/1

  • Manchester United 33/1

Crysencio Summerville

The Maresca influence strikes again as the Chelsea manager is again tipped to delve into his former division and pluck Crysencio Summerville from Leeds. The 22-year-old remained at the club upon last summer's relegation, ultimately proving his worth by scoring 21 goals and recording 10 assists in 43 total appearances, and now seems the inevitable time for his departure.

Chelsea are the strong favourites compared to a number of Premier League rivals, although interestingly Liverpool's name remains in the picture and not so far behind, despite their interest being reported as ended.

Summerville next club odds:

  • Chelsea 3/1 F

  • Liverpool 10/3

  • Crystal Palace 6/1

  • Tottenham Hotspur 8/1

  • Aston Villa 9/1

  • Newcastle United 10/1

  • West Ham United 10/1

Signings

Aaron Ramsdale

The club have been given a very slim chance as extreme outsiders to sign Aaron Ramsdale from Arsenal this summer.

Arsenal's goalkeeping situation seems clear as they are expected to activate the £27m buy option in their initial £3m loan of David Raya from Brentford. The Spaniard was trusted ahead of Ramsdale last season, the former making 41 appearances to the latter's 11 in Mikel Arteta's side.

The 26-year-old still made England's squad for Euro 2024, though if he hopes to oust Jordan Pickford as first-choice then a future transfer to find regular minutes may be required. Championship football may not be the best route to achieve this goal, but Leeds are still named on the list.

Ramsdale next club odds:

  • Newcastle 4/6 F

  • Atletico Madrid 5/1

  • Manchester United 7/1

  • Southampton 8/1

  • Chelsea 10/1

  • West Ham United 10/1

  • Leicester City 16/1

  • Bournemouth 20/1

  • Wolves 20/1

  • Nottingham Forest 25/1

  • Leeds United 50/1

Sammie Szmodics

Losing the attacking threat of Summerville would be a major blow, so in his place Leeds are currently joint-third favourites to recruit the second tier's most devastating goalscorer of the 2023/24 campaign.

Sammie Szmodics produced a shock 27 goals, and even added four assists for good measure, as he won the golden boot award in a Blackburn Rovers side that finished the season 19th. He managed this not even as the team's main striker, but from attacking midfield, centre forward, plus both left and right wing positions.

The addition of the Republic of Ireland international would be an exciting one, though at present it is suggested Leeds would have to fight off competition from favourites West Ham and Everton for his signature. Turkish side Galatasaray are even in the running, as are Saudi Arabian clubs...

Szmodics next club odds:

  • West Ham United 3/1 F

  • Everton 4/1

  • Galatasaray 8/1

  • Leeds United 8/1

  • Nottingham Forest 8/1

  • Brentford 10/1

  • Ipswich Town 10/1

  • Leicester City 10/1

  • Any Saudi Pro League club 16/1

  • Brighton 20/1

  • Luton Town 33/1
