Leeds United transfers state of play with Chelsea star linked Spurs midfielder future decision

With all the talk about which players could leave Leeds United this summer, it's easy to forget that Daniel Farke and Co are looking to add to the squad in the coming months.

Just like last summer, once the window has closed it will be all about those signed up to the Leeds United cause as they plot their path to the Premier League. The Whites have been linked with plenty of players, some which would solve key problems for Farke, while others could replace potential outgoings.

Here's the latest on the key names linked with a move to Elland Road and where things stand as the transfer window finally gets under way.

Joe Rodon

While the Welsh defender has signed a contract extension with Tottenham, he could still be loaned out again this coming season. Spurs appear unwilling to let him go on a permanent deal and after enjoying a successful season with Leeds, the Whites would be in a strong position to seal a repeat deal.

However, they could face Premier League competition, with Southampton said to be weighing up a move. They could offer Rodon top-flight football, something which the 26-year-old has seen precious little of in recent season.

Sammy Szmodics

Everton are said to be keen on the Blackburn forward who led the Championship goalscoring ranks last season. The 28-year-old has been linked with a move away from Rovers, with Leeds thought to monitoring his situation. However, the allure of the Premier League could be the issue for the Whites.

Speaking on his future last month, Szmodics said: "It's a case of me enjoying my summer and seeing what's out there. I don't think anyone would begrudge me if a Premier League team came knocking. It is everyone's dream to play in the Premier League. I don't know if that opportunity will arise but I don't think anyone could be blamed if they have the chance to play in the Premier League."

Oliver Skipp

With Tottenham looking for midfield options, Skipp could slip further down the pecking order in North London, which has led to reports that he would be keen to reunite with former manager Daniel Farke. The pair worked together during Skipp's loan season at Norwich, where they won the Championship title.

Skipp's Premier League wages could prove to be a stumbling block, however, and perhaps a loan deal could be more feasible. However, Spurs may decide they would prefer to cash in on the 23-year-old to help fund other deals.

Callum O'Hare

The midfielder is set to leave Coventry City on a free transfer, with his contract due to expire at the end of the month, and Leeds have been strongly linked with a move. Southampton and Burnley have also been credited with interest in the 26-year-old playmaker, who came through Aston Villa's academy.

Alfie Gilchrist

The Chelsea youngster is a loan option, with the defender set to be given gametime away from Stamford Bridge next season. He can play at either right-back or in central defence, which would tick a big box for Farke. Preston and Blackburn have also been linked with the 20-year-old who made 17 appearances for the Blues last season, scoring in a 6-0 win over Everton.

Ben Johnson

Another right-back who could be ideal for Leeds, Johnson looked like he was about to leave West Ham when is contract expired at the end of the month. However, the Hammers have since offered him a new deal - but he is yet to sign it.
