Leeds United are reportedly keen on bringing Connor Roberts back to Elland Road next season, but are set to wait on a resolution to Burnley's managerial situation before further exploring a move.

Roberts arrived on loan at Elland Road midway through last season after falling out of favour under Vincent Kompany at Turf Moor, and went on to make 15 appearances for Leeds as they progressed through to the Championship play-off final.

The failure to gain promotion to the Premier League means Leeds are now facing a potential rebuild this summer as they look to mount another challenge next term.

According to The Athletic, the club are keen to bring Roberts back to the club next season, but they may be forced to wait for Burnley to get their own house in order as they adjust to life back in the second tier.

The Clarets are looking to replace Belgian coach Kompany, who completed a shock move to Bayern Munich earlier in the summer. A decision over Roberts is likely to hinge on what happens next.

Things are clearly very much up in the air for Burnley right now, with Kompany's former assistant Craig Bellamy taking interim charge while the search for a successor goes on.

Interviews for a permanent boss are expected to happen next week, with Liam Rosenior, Frank Lampard and Scott Parker among the names believed to be in the frame.

Leeds are likely to be waiting in the wings before they push to complete a deal for Roberts, who has one year left on his current deal in Lancashire, and is currently believed to be assessing his options.
