Rock musician Bryan Adams performed a long career of hits before a packed crowd on a perfect night at the Piece Hall on Sunday.

Basking in glorious sunshine, an appreciative audience rocked along with the Canadian singer and songwriter.

Adams, wearing a black leather jacket and carrying a guitar, kicked off his 22-song set with rousing performance of ‘Kick Ass’.

After ‘Can’t Stop This Thing We Started’, the crowd made their presence felt singing along to ‘Somebody’.

The 64-year-old singer continued to show his youth invigorating the crowd with the energetic number ‘18 Till I Die’.

Adams wooed his dedicated fans with the tender ballad ‘Heaven’, after which he pulled out his harmonica in Go Down Rockin’.

One of Adams’ most heartfelt performances of the night was the song ‘It’s Only Love’, in which he paid tribute to the late great Tina Turner.

“I was 23 when I wrote this song,” he said. “I had the privilege to sing it with Tina Turner.

“She was a great loss to music and a great loss to me as a friend. I’d like to pay tribute to a great lady.”

Adams’ interacted seamlessly with the crowd all night as he got an on-stage cameraman to spotlight people in the crowd who danced along to ‘You Belong To Me’.

Following the fun and cheeky ‘The Only Thing That Looks Good On Me Is You’, the audience’s phones came out in droves to hear ‘(Everything I Do) I Do It For You’, the power ballad that remained atop the charts for 16 weeks in 1991.

The title song ‘So Happy It Hurts’ from his 2022 album of the same name featured a video on the stage background with the singer and his beloved mum.

“She’s 96-years-old and she’s still rocking,” Adams told the crowd.

A cracking trio of three of my personal favourite Bryan Adams’s songs followed, led off by ‘Run To You’, lead single on his fourth album Reckless.

The audience rocked along with Adams to his up-tempo hit and the ever popular ‘Summer of ‘69’.

An excellent performance followed with ‘Cut Likes A Knife’, the title track off the album of the same name.

In the penultimate number of his gig, Adam performed Cloud Number Nine, a tune where he asked the crowd to turn their phone lights to light up a dark arena.

Before ending the evening with the song ‘Straight From the Heart’, he told the audience how much he appreciated everyone singing along to his songs.

Adams’ supporting act, electro-pop artist Cassyette, got the crowd rocking with a number of heavy hard-driving numbers. She was proceeded by Yorkshire Indie band Vivas, who performed a half dozen songs to start the evening.
