Len Goodman is returning to Strictly Come Dancing.

Unfortunately, though, he isn't going to be rejoining the judging panel alongside Craig Revel Horwood, Bruno Tonioli and Darcey Bussell.

During a chat on The One Show yesterday (August 17), Len revealed that he is instead planning to make a brief appearance in the audience of the BBC series in the lead-up to this year's final.

Explaining why he won't be there at the start, he told presenters Alex Jones and Matt Baker, "I wouldn't go early doors".

He then stressed he didn't want to be critical of the first series without him, and suggested an appearance closer to the final would work better.

Len retired from the Strictly judging panel last year and has been replaced by award-winning dancer Shirley Ballas, who is yet to make her debut.

Giving his thoughts on her taking his place, the veteran star said: "She is a fantastic dancer. What she doesn't know about ballroom and Latin, you don't want to know!

"She's a terrific dancer and I'm sure she's got a great personality."

There's just a few weeks to go until the new series starts, and BBC bosses have slowly started to confirm which celebs are confirmed for the line-up.

The Saturdays star Mollie King, JLS singer Aston Merrygold, TV chef Simon Rimmer, Emmerdale actress Gemma Atkinson, EastEnders' Davood Ghadami, and Holby City's Joe McFadden have all been announced.

The remaining names are expected to be revealed over the coming days.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One this September.
