Les Mis viewers suggest the series is better than the musical
The BBC's adaptation of Les Misérables is really starting to win over viewers, and tonight's episode (January 13) has been described as the 'best yet'.
It's safe to say that, for many, watching a non-musical version of Les Mis has taken some getting used to (even though the original story comes from Victor Hugo's novel), but viewers now seem to have settled into the idea.
The latest episode – which saw Jean Valjean confess his real identity before going on the run and rescuing Cosette (her mother Fantine having now passed away) – has been heavily praised, with many describing it as the 'best yet' and some even arguing that the series is superior to the musical.

Loving Les Miserables on BBC1, best version I've seen so far. Rare that I watch drama series but I was keen to watch this one, and it's exceeded my expectations. #LesMiserables

Some viewers have even gone as far to suggest that Les Mis is the best drama the BBC has produced in decades – or ever.
While another wrote: "Les Miserables is by far the best thing the @BBCOne has done in decades. Loving it, fantastic acting, a wonderful adaptation. Just wish I didn’t have to wait another week for the next episode."
One person tweeted: "I am rating #LesMiserables as quite possibly the best BBC drama production ever. It is fantastic."
Tonight's episode ended with Javert in hot pursuit of Jean Valjean as he found sanctuary in a nunnery.
Les Misérables continues on BBC One at 9pm next Sunday (January 20).
