Brits are increasingly putting a lesser-known Italian gem on their travel wish list after being captivated by its stunning vistas.

Italy, drawing over 70million visitors annually, is renowned for its rich cultural offerings (think pizza), storied history (more pizza), and delectable cuisine (did someone say pizza?).

Tourists usually throng to the serene waterways of Venice or Rome's majestic Colosseum, while islands such as Capri, Sicily, and Sardinia have surged in popularity for their crystal-clear seas, picture-perfect beaches, and balmy climes.

Yet not far from the opulent shores of Capri, celebrated for its rugged coastline and A-list visitors, there lies an island brimming with hidden coves, charmingly hued homes, and a celestial connection....

Travel influencer Izzy, known as Izzydeering on TikTok, has been singing the praises of Procida in the Gulf of Naples. "Welcome to Procida: the island in Italy often overshadowed by Capri and Ishcia," she remarked. "[It's] just as beautiful but with no crowds."

Izzy highlighted the island's vibrant port, secluded strands, molten sunsets, and translucent waters. She suggested a stay of three to four nights and pointed out several 'delicious' eateries where a hearty main course can be savoured for as little as €12 (£10).

Procida's charming pastel houses and narrow streets may look familiar to movie enthusiasts, as it served as a backdrop for The Talented Mr Ripley. The acclaimed novel turned film, which starred Matt Damon, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Cate Blanchett, has now been transformed into a TV mini-series featuring Andrew Scott.

The picturesque views of the island triggered an enthusiastic response online, with scores of users in the comments section tagging friends and family. One user humorously remarked: "Hopping on a flight right now," while another said: "This is next on my bucket list!"

A third added: "Wow looks amazing!" While a fourth wrote: "Stop, this is too beautiful."
