It’s had a bunch of mixed reviews so far, but Gary Barlow’s talent show – Let It Shine – has just announced a new guest judge that’s definitely going to have us tuning in.
Oh, and it’s a bit of a curveball.
Yes, chat show icon and late-nineties hero Ricki Lake will be taking to our screens to help the other judges find the UK’s next big boyband.
A bit left-field you might say – however it’s worth remembering that Ricki trod the boards in the musical Hairspray, and has a lot of musical theatre experience under her belt.
She said: “I am super excited to be guest judge on Let It Shine. I love musicals and this is a fantastic show.
“I was only 18 when I won the role of the original Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray so I can’t wait to share some of my own experiences with the boys.
“It is truly a pleasure and I’m excited to see the bands perform live for the first time.
And not mention, I am thrilled to be back in the UK.”
And we’re thrilled to have you, hun!
Pint-sized superstar Lulu will be taking over from ex-Glee star Amber Riley next week, which will see contestants collaborate with everyone from the Kaiser Chiefs to Mel C.
