Lewis Morgan handed shock Scotland Euro 2024 call up as ex Celtic man given last minute shout

Lewis Morgan has made a stunning return to the Scotland squad as Steve Clarke puts the finishing touches on his squad for Euro 2024.

Preparations haven't exactly been smooth so far due to injuries with Ben Doak the latest to pull out while Tommy Conway was drafted in to replace Lyndon Dykes. That took the squad to 27, with just a goalkeeper expected to be cut to make the final 26.

No more outfield players were expected to be called upon for Friday's friendly with Finland, but Clarke has brought in Morgan from the MLS to bolster his ranks. It means the New York Red Bulls winger could earn his third cap on Friday and his first since a friendly with Mexico in 2018. Clarke has so far paid minimal attention to the MLS contingent but Morgan has been in fine form with nine goals in 16 appearances so far.

He's been called upon ahead of Ryan Gauld whose wait for a first cap goes on. Follow Record Sport on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for all of the up-to-the minute breaking news, video and audio on the SPFL, the Scotland national team and beyond.
