Oasis' Pub Meet-Up 'Sparks Reunion Rumours'

A series of cryptic tweets which triggered a frenzy of speculation Oasis could reform may simply have been sent when the ex-bandmates reunited for a drink in a pub.

The one-letter messages posted by former frontman Liam Gallagher on Thursday night, spelling out the band's name, were followed by another which read: "Oasis LG."

The posts were retweeted tens of thousands of times and bookmakers Ladbrokes and Paddy Power both suspended betting on the band headlining Glastonbury.

However, ex-Oasis guitarist Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs warned fans not to read too much into Gallagher's tweets.

Asked why his friend might have sent the messages, he told NME magazine : "Probably the fact I texted him going, 'Meet me in the beer garden'. That probably rattled his cage. Maybe that.

"I don't know though, because I meet him every month. Maybe he's just reminiscing."

Arthurs later spelled out the word 'pub' in his own series of one-letter tweets before uploading a picture of a pint of beer.

Oasis, which included Liam's brother Noel on lead guitar and vocals, enjoyed worldwide success before an acrimonious split in 2009.

Noel quit after an altercation with Liam, bringing to an end one of the most famous and successful partnerships in British rock history.

It is almost 20 years since the release of the band's debut album Definitely Maybe, which went straight to number one.

Last year, Liam said he would be willing to "bury the hatchet" and get back together to mark the anniversary.

Sky News contacted the brothers but there was no response.
