Lifeboat Crew Save Dog That Swam Out to Sea 'Chasing Seagulls'

A lifeboat crew in Wales had to be called out on August 31 to rescue a dog that was a little too fond of chasing seagulls, having swam out to sea in pursuit of them.

The dog and its owner had gone for a walk along the seafront at Rhyl when the drama unfolded at about 9 am, the RNLI said.

Video shows the lifeboat crew reaching the dog, who they call to as Benny. Soon, the dog is safely aboard and brought back to a thankful owner waiting on the beach.

Martin Jones, coxswain for Rhyl’s RNLI lifeboat, said: “There was initial worry the owner would attempt to rescue the dog, but on the coastguard’s advice, remained on the beach, keeping the dog in sight. We are so happy the animal and its owner are reunited.” Credit: RNLI Rhyl via Storyful
