Manchester United’s recruitment team may have a vested interest in two of today’s Euro 2024 fixtures with several players yet to have their club futures decided.

The transfer window is now officially open, and United will be keen to bring in a number of signings ahead of the new season. Specifically, they are looking for two new centre-backs, a midfielder and a striker.

However, other areas may also need looking at depending on sales, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe set to be ruthless in the summer transfer window given the club are battling Premier League spending constraints. Some Euros stars could yet become new targets if they shine in the shop window.

Slovenia striker Benjamin Sesko would have been a player United would have kept an eye on, but he has now penned a new deal with RB Leipzig. Here are five other players who have been linked with United this summer and might play today.

Netherlands

In recent days, links with Matthijs de Ligt have surfaced with reports suggesting that he could be targeted if a pursuit of Jarrad Branthwaite falters. He could start in today’s 2pm opener with Poland as could Jeremie Frimpong.

United have held an interest in the Bayer Leverkusen right-back for nearly a year and would be played in the wing-back role if Ronald Koeman decides to play three at the back. Joshua Zirkzee was called up late to the squad, having to break off from a holiday at Disney World in Florida to travel to Germany.

He was called in after fellow United-linked attacker Brian Brobbey suffered an injury scare in training following the setbacks of Frenkie de Jong and Teun Koopmeiners, whom have both also been connected to Old Trafford.

England

Marc Guehi looks set to start for England against Serbia in the 8pm kick-off with United defender Harry Maguire set to miss the finals with his calf injury. The Crystal Palace star has been linked with an Old Trafford switch amid Erik ten Hag’s hunt for two new centre-halves.

A number of other clubs are said to be taking an interest in Guehi, including Liverpool. How he fares in Germany will impact his price tag and the likelihood of a move to United.
