Yahoo News Lil Nas X’s ‘Satan Shoes’ containing human blood sell out in under a minute, amid Nike lawsuit
Lil Nas X’s limited edition trainers, which contain a drop of human blood, have sold out in under a minute.
The rapper released 666 pairs of the "Satan Shoes" on 29 March, to tie in with the release of his latest single Montero (Call Me By Your Name), the video for which depicts Lil Nas X in hell.
In a tweet the artist has since deleted, he wrote: “Y’all talked so much s*** about these shoes just for them to sell out in literally less than one minute," adding: “lmao y’all going out SAD!”
The star posted a mock apology video for the shoes on YouTube on Sunday which began with him holding the shoe in a classic YouTuber pose, then cut straight to one of the scenes from his popular music video.
The black and red trainers, which were made using Nike Air Max 97s, feature a pentagram pendant and a reference to a Bible verse, Luke 10:18 — “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.”

The shoes were sold at $1,018 (£739) and each contained a drop of blood.
This blood was supplied by six members of the MSCHF team, Daniel Greenberg, one of the brand’s founders, toldThe New York Times.
The trainers were created by New-York-based art collective MSCHF, and Nike has distanced itself from the design.
“We do not have a relationship with Little Nas X or MSCHF. Nike did not design or release these shoes and we do not endorse them,” it said in a statement, which was reiterated to The Independent.
In fact, reports on Tuesday suggested Nike has sued MSCHF in US district court, claiming the product will cause "confusion and dilution" around the brand, reports The New York Times.
Nike has stated that decisions about which products to use its logo on belong to the brand alone and asked the court to prevent MSCHF from fulfilling orders of the shoes.
