Despite only being open since November 2023, a Lincoln city centre pub has been named a Pub of the Year finalist in the Great Food Club awards thanks to its fresh and locally sourced dishes. The White Horse in Lincoln has become well-known for its tasty food and expertly mixed cocktails, providing a relaxed restaurant and bar setting.

Co-owners Jason Lord-Castle and Daniel Bellamy share a love for food and hospitality, and for the past decade, they have been honing their skills and expertise in the industry. They launched the White Horse in Hungate, seven months ago on November 15, 2023.

Jason explained that it feels "fantastic" to be a finalist in the Great Food Club awards, which celebrates the best food and drink independents across the East Midlands. He said: "We have put a lot of hard work into this place, a lot of time and a lot of effort, it's just been a great team effort."

Since opening the pair have had "really positive feedback" from their customers. Jason added: "We have a fresh approach to food and we are a completely independent pub which is a great thing for Lincoln as we can do what we like with food and drinks."

The pair previously ran Kine, a burger restaurant in Lincoln, but this business evolved into the White Horse. Some of the items currently on the menu include Korean fried chicken, whipped blue cheese and pear, Tamarind glazed pork belly and crab croquetas.

However, now that the warmer weather is finally here, customers can look forward to some big menu changes next week to reflect the seasonal changes.
