Linda Nolan says cancer fight 'magnifies' grief over husband's death

Linda Nolan has said that her cancer battle “magnifies” the grief she feels over the loss of her late husband.

The star was married to Brian Hudson — who was the tour manager for her sibling singling group The Nolans — from 1981 until his death from liver failure in 2007.

Writing in the Mirror, Nolan said that when she is feeling low, unwell or awaiting test results amid her cancer fight, it is Hudson she wants to be there to comfort her as he would “make things just a little bit easier”.

“My illness magnifies my grief for him, but in a way, I’m glad he isn’t here to experience the heartbreak,” she said.

“It helps that I believe I’ll see him again.”

Nolan, 64, lost her 52-year-old sister Bernie to cancer in 2013 and said that she imagines her husband is now with Bernie and that they were “having a laugh” together.

“That brings me a lot of peace,” she said

The star was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in 2017, after first having the disease in 2005.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain earlier this year, she told viewers that the cancer had spread to her brain but insisted that she was going to do her best to remain positive.

Nolan rose to fame as part of the singing group The Nolan Sisters alongside her siblings Bernie, Anne, Denise, Maureen and Coleen, who now stars on ITV show Loose Women.

The group – known for tracks such as I’m In The Mood For Dancing and Thanks For Calling - later became The Nolans.
