Linda Robson has become the latest Loose Women panellist to fall victim to a celebrity death hoax. But the The Birds of a Feather actor was quick to shake off the rumours by posting a hoax of her own on social media.

Robson, 65, posted a video clip on Instagram of herself apparently lying on her death bed, with her eyes closed and hands cross across her chest, as if in a coffin. The clip was set to the film score of Hitchcock's famous horror movie Pyscho by Bernard Hermann. The comedy actor then opened her eyes slowly and sat up, while giving a spooky gaze into camera. Robson then burst into a smile.

The Loose Woman captioned the clip: "Woke up to lots of messages and calls, apparently there has been a rumour I had passed away going around. You won’t get rid of me that easy!" And a black heart emoji.

Her followers shared their dismay and disgust at the death hoax rumours. One commented: "I was really upset when I read it and said to mum you are not going to believe who’s died ." Another said: "I'd just ignore the rumours as they are getting kinda silly now and how dare they hoax you! NANNY LINDA! I was outraged to see the rumour tbh. Anyway hope you are well Linda." And a third wrote: "Who in there right mind would say this!! I seen it and was literally about to cry as you are such an amazing person @lindarobson58…"

Denise Welch

Robson is the latest of several Loose Women stars to be targeted by death hoax rumours. Former Coronation Street star Denise Welch had to deny that she had passed away at the beginning of December. The 65-year-old mother of The 1975 frontman Matty Healy posted on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter: “I’m alive and well and about to watch the jungle. Thanks for your concern.”

Fans began sharing messages of concern about Welsh after noticing that part of her Wikipedia page had been edited to include details of her death. Initially, Welch's cause of death was attributed to her being run down by a mobility scooter belonging to former Big Brother contestant Kerry Riches. It was later updated to claim Welch had died following a bout of “explosive diarrhoea”.

Welch later said of the death hoax on Loose Women: "I had to invest in the humour of it, because I was so riddled with nerves about this concert [Diana the Musical)] and I thought I can't be anxious about this. It was predominantly taking place on Twitter but it was going viral before my eyes. If you're well known enough to have a death hoax then it's a badge of honour. But, if someone had rung my children - either they didn't hear or they didn't care, I can't work out which one it was!"

Janet Street-Porter

A week later fellow Loose Women panellist Janet Street-Porter, 76, was made the subject of a death hoax on social media. A post on X claimed: "Absolutely shocked by the passing of Janet Street-Porter. I cannot believe it !!?? Always a Loose Women favourite, she would’ve turned 86 this December. RIP Janet. She was only on the show last week."

Street-Porter did not comment on the rumours, but many of her fans were quick to dismiss the hoax. One commented: "Janet Street Porter is not dead.

"This account has a history of creating false death reports for celebrities - they falsely claimed last week that Denise Welch had died."
