Lohan Charged Over Crash After Assault Arrest

Actress Lindsay Lohan has been charged over a car crash in June, just hours after her arrest for allegedly hitting a woman at a nightclub.

Prosecutors in California filed the charges against the Mean Girls and Freaky Friday star soon after she was charged with third-degree assault in New York.

Lohan, 26, crashed her Porsche into the back of a truck while on her way to a film set six months ago. She has been charged with lying to police and reckless driving.

The case could see the actress, who is on probation in California for stealing a gold necklace from a jewellery shop, sent back to jail.

Meanwhile, her latest run-in with the law took place at 4am on Thursday after she allegedly struck a woman in the face with her hand during a spat at Club Avenue, in Manhattan's Chelsea area. The victim did not require medical attention.

Lohan spent approximately four hours at a police station before being led away with a black jacket pulled over her head.

Her publicist has not issued any comment.

The arrest is Lohan's latest brush with police in New York City.

She was involved in a NYPD investigation in September after alleging a man had assaulted her in a New York hotel, but charges against him were later dropped.

Also in September, the actress was accused of clipping a man with her car outside another Manhattan nightclub, but prosecutors chose not to move ahead with charges.

In October, police were called to her childhood home on Long Island after a report of a fight between her and her mother. An investigation revealed "no criminality".

In May, she was cleared of allegations that she struck a Hollywood nightclub manager with her car.

Lohan's latest film, Liz & Dick, in which she portrays screen icon Elizabeth Taylor, premiered on Sunday. Her performance was panned by critics.
