It looks like Lindsay Lohan is putting herself forward once again to be cast as Ariel in Disney's upcoming live-action Little Mermaid.

The star, who first made her name in the House of Mouse's The Parent Trap, took to Instagram to post a side-by-side of herself and Ariel.

Simply captioning it "#thelittlemermaid", it's fair to say the star has made her pitch simple enough.

This is not the first time Lohan has revealed her strong desire to play Ariel, however, describing it as her "dream role" last year.

The only big name attached so far to the Disney remake is Hamilton mastermind Lin-Manuel Miranda, who is working on a mix of classic songs from the 1989 animation and brand new hits alongside original composer Alan Menken.

While it's quite a way off yet, The Little Mermaid will follow a string of live-action remakes of Disney classics, including last year's The Jungle Book and the upcoming version of Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson.

On top of that, we already have a sequel to The Jungle Book in the works, as well as remakes of Dumbo made by Tim Burton, Tinker Bell starring Reese Witherspoon and The Lion King starring Donald Glover. Phew.

Oh, and that's before we get to the Cruella de Vil movie with Emma Stone, the Mulan adaptation from director Niki Caro, Game of Thrones writer Bryan Cogman's new Sword in the Stone AND Guy Ritchie's Aladdin.

Yet still no word on a live-action Basil the Great Mouse Detective. For shame, Disney.
