Director Jon Favreau has uploaded a behind-the-scenes picture from his live-action adaptation of The Lion King.

The image features Favreau himself – the man who brought us festive staple Elf – alongside actors Seth Rogen, Solo: A Star Wars Story's Donald Glover and Billy Eichner, in some form of recording studio.

Uploaded to Twitter, this latest insight gives us a look at the Pumbaa, Simba and Timon stars in action. Favreau has previous experience bringing iconic Disney products to the live-action frame, having directed The Jungle Book back in 2016.

The Lion King, set for release next summer, also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Beyoncé as Nala, James Earl Jones (reprising his role from the original animation as Mufasa), John Oliver as Zazu, John Kani as Rafiki, and Alfre Woodard as Sarabi.

Favreau is clearly a fan of using social media to promote this production, and he and Donald seem to be getting on like a house on fire by the looks of it!

After blowing our minds with their tunes in the 1994 movie, it was confirmed earlier this year that legendary musician Sir Elton John and his original collaborator Tim Rice are working on the project.

"They need to have a new end credits song," revealed Sir Elton. "There's going to be four of our songs in the film, from the original: 'Can You Feel The Love Tonight', 'Hakuna Matata', 'I Just Can't Wait To Be King' and 'Circle of Life'.

"And then there will be an end, closing song, and we've been speaking to Beyoncé's people and hopefully Tim and I and her can cook up something."
