Little Mix’s Jade Thirwall Left ‘Unsettled And Scared’ By Fan Accused Of Stalking Her

Jade Thirlwall has admitted that she felt “unsettled and scared” over the attention that she received from a fan that was accused of stalking her.

The fan in question, Nabeel Waseem, 33, was issued a restraining order after being formally cleared of stalking her, during a hearing at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court.

Waseem was arrested in January after visiting Jade’s grandmother’s home in South Shields, where the Little Mix star was staying at the time.

Following that incident, police warned him that if he wished to have contact with her, he must go through her record label.

He then contacted her management, claiming that he was dying from epilepsy and that he had spent thousands of pounds on Little Mix tickets and albums. He also shared a proposition that he would like to work for the group – for free.

This sparked further alarm, the court heard.

The prosecutor during the court battle, Clare Irving, said of the 23-year old singer: “She felt nervous, unsettled, scared for her own safety and that of her family. She felt harassed and in fear of physical violence.”

Irving added that Jade had posted an Instagram photo on January 13th and captioned it: “sleepover at Nannas with @melaniethirlwall @kayleighhoare ❤ #family”

The court heard that Jade’s cousin had phoned her saying that a fan had turned up at the house, asking to see Jade.

Mrs Irving confirmed that the thought made the Black Magic singer “feel sick.”

Geoffrey Forrester, defending, said Waseem was motivated by his belief that Little Mix deserved better management than Simon Cowell.

He stated about Mr Waseem: “He cannot plead guilty because he doesn’t accept he has done anything wrong.

His motives were entirely well intended. He wishes nothing but the very best for the group.”

He claimed that his client had never been in the same town as Jade but the defendant accepted the restraining order, which prevents Waseem from contacting Jade, posting on social media about her, researching or getting someone else to research ‘private facts’ about her, approaching her, entering parts of South Shields or attending a concert or event where she is appearing.

Chairmen of the Bench John Lee concluded the hearing by saying: “I think your affection for Jade Thirlwall has probably runs its course. What this is telling you to do is stay away from her.”
