Who Liverpool could face in the Uefa Champions League last 16: Knockout stage draw pots and seedings
Liverpool made easy work of Spartak Moscow in their final Champions League group game to confirm top spot in Group E
The Reds made hard work of their group, despite being drawn against the collective weakest according to coefficients, but brushed Spartak Moscow aside on Wednesday evening.
It leaves Chelsea as the only of five Premier League representatives in the Pot Two of the knockout stage draw.
Standard Sport runs you through the permutations for Klopp's side…
Pots and seedings
As the winner of Group E, Liverpool know they will be pitted against one of the group runner-ups from Pot Two.
But with their own defensive woes already in this competition, there are still many big fishes to avoid.
Group | Runners-up |
A | FC Basel |
B | Bayern Munich |
C | Chelsea |
D | Juventus |
E | Sevilla |
F | Shakhtar Donetsk |
G | FC Porto |
H | Real Madrid |
Because no side can play another from the same country in the round of 16, Liverpool will not be drawn against Chelsea. They will also not face another two games against fellow Group E qualifier Sevilla.
That still leaves Klopp’s side with some daunting prospects...

The might of Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona and Tottenham's fine European form leave big guns Bayern Munich, Juventus and Real Madrid in Pot Two, which will all prove very tough tests for Klopp and his defence.
When is the draw?
