Liverpool FC vs Arsenal: Carabao Cup prediction, live stream, TV channel, team news, start time, h2h, odds

Liverpool welcome Arsenal to Anfield for the second time in the space of four days with a place in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals up for grabs tonight.

The Premier League champions ran out 3-1 winners after goals from Sadio Mane, Andy Robertson and debutant Diogo Jota cancelled out Alexandre Lacazette's early goal.

But with a congested fixture schedule approaching for both sides heading into the autumn and winter months, both sides are expected to make several changes.

Arsenal have already clinched one piece of silverware under Mikel Arteta after triumphing in last season's FA Cup, and the Spaniard would surely welcome the opportunity to add another to his collection.

But even with a second-string side, Jurgen Klopp's side thumped Lincoln City 7-2 in the previous round and will be feeling confident of another victory at Anfield.

Date, time and venue

Liverpool vs Arsenal is scheduled for a 7.45pm BST kick-off tonight.

This match will be played behind closed doors at Anfield with no fans due to be present due to government guidelines regarding coronavirus.

Team news

Liverpool assistant coach Pepijn Lijnders has confirmed they will make changes to maintain "freshness" within the squad.

While the Dutchman did not namecheck any players in particular, youngsters such as Neco Williams, Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott could play some part.

Jordan Henderson, Kostas Tsimikas and Joel Matip are all ruled out along with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee).

Mikel Arteta is expected to make changes from the Arsenal team that lost 3-1 on Monday with Runar Alex Runarsson pushing to make his debut.

Gabriel is likely to return to the defence after not playing on Monday night and he could come in for Kieran Tierney, while Bukayo Saka and Cedric Soares could be given a chance to impress.

In attack, Eddie Nketiah is expected to lead the line after scoring in the last round against Leicester City and he should be flanked by Nicolas Pepe and Reiss Nelson.

Prediction: Liverpool 2-3 Arsenal

We saw four goals at Anfield on Monday and with so many changes expected from both managers, it could result in a very open contest with a flurry of goals.

Klopp will be inclined to give some of the academy players a run-out and while Arsenal were outclassed last time out, this match will almost certainly see a more positive approach from Arteta's men.

For that reason, the Gunners will be going all out to take their place in the last eight with a realistic chance of silverware within touching distance.

Head to head (h2h) history and results

Liverpool go into this clash with the edge in the overall head-to-head, winning 90 of their games while Arsenal have secured 80 wins.

Interestingly, the Reds' 3-1 win on Monday was their first in three games against Arsenal, who won the league meeting in July and the Community Shield in August.
