Arne Slot will be looking to put his twist on the Liverpool team this summer.

The Reds have been linked with some big names, like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Rodrygo, but they're still yet to welcome any new faces to Anfield. Last year, Jurgen Klopp forked out almost £200m on four new midfielders following the departures of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita and James Milner. This summer, Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara have already left.

With that being said, the ECHO has taken a look at the latest Reds news and transfer gossip.

Arne Slot to 'block' transfers

Keith Wyness believes Arne Slot will have the power to block transfers he doesn’t agree with at Liverpool. Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, the former Everton CEO said: "They’ll give Arne Slot the time to settle in and look at the assets, and I’m sure he’s been doing that.

"We know there has been some change at the top level, with the directors and so on. Slot will have had a baptism of fire in terms of the data. The transfer team will have spent countless hours putting that together.

"He’s now got to work with the powers that be above him, making sure this is the squad he wants. He won’t have the final say in the transfers, but he’ll be involved heavily. I’d say they wouldn’t go ahead with a transfer unless he’s bought into the deal.

"Slot’s got a big job ahead to fill Klopp’s shoes, so he’ll want to make sure he gets off with a cohesive squad. He’ll have the full support to do it – there’s no doubt."

The ECHO says: "I don't think there will be many situations where Arne Slot and Richard Hughes strongly disagree on potential signings. Liverpool's recruitment has been pretty impressive over the years so I think the Dutchman is in good hands."

Liverpool urged to sign Euro 2024 ace

Glen Johnson has urged Liverpool to do whatever it takes to sign Nico Williams this summer. Speaking to Betfred, the former Reds defender said: "I’ve not seen much of him at club level, but I’ve been impressed by what I’ve seen of him at the Euros with Spain.

"He looks great, but I’m always reluctant to speak about potential transfers of players that have performed well at major tournaments. These players have been looking forward to this competition for a long time and almost every game is a cup final, so you’re always looking to bring your ‘A’ game.

"Nico’s a young lad that looks the real deal and if he’s doing this week in, week out for Athletic Bilbao, then fair play. However, everyone can look good in a major tournament due to the small number of games played and it shouldn’t be the sole basis for a club to sign a player off the back of their performances at the Euros.

"If what he’s doing now is his regular level of performance, then Liverpool should definitely try and sign him..."

The ECHO says: "Nico Williams would be an absolutely brilliant signing for Liverpool. He could be exactly what the Reds need – a breath of fresh air in the frontline. Mohamed Salah is not getting any younger and with his contract coming to an end, Arne Slot will need a new talisman soon."
