Liverpool are the subject of rumours regarding a Champions League winner after seemingly seeing their chances of signing one of the Premier League's best players end.

The Reds got their pivotal piece of business done before the end of the season by appointing Arne Slot as their new head coach, but they have yet to sign a player in the month since. There have also been a few outgoings, with only Calvin Ramsay leaving on a season-long loan to Wigan Athletic, while Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara have departed after their contracts expired.

Links to Michael Olise have swirled this month, but they appear to be coming to nothing as the Crystal Palace winger has chosen to join Bayern Munich this month. It is not a done deal yet, but the player has made their preference known, as The Athletic reports, after the German giants contacted Palace last week.

They will now aim to reach an agreement that sees Olise become the latest addition to new head coach Vincent Kompany's squad. Chelsea and Newcastle United also approached Palace but were beaten by Bayern.

Liverpool were not credited with an interest in these latest reports but are said to be offering £42 million to sign Real Madrid attacking midfielder Brahim Diaz. The former Manchester City player, who made five Premier League appearances in 2018, signed for Madrid the following year.

After a season and a half back in Spain for the first time since leaving Malaga at the age of 16, Diaz spent the next three years on loan at AC Milan. But after a single season back in the Spanish capital, the Morocco international may be on the move back to England once more.
