Wins for Arsenal and Manchester City this weekend meant Liverpool's position in the Premier League table has been confirmed for the 2023/24 season.

Jurgen Klopp's men had been part of the title race for large parts of the season and were leading the way not long ago. However, failure to win against Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Everton saw them fall out of the running.

The Reds have two games remaining - Aston Villa on Monday and Wolves next weekend - but they won't be able to move up a place in the Premier League title race.

Liverpool will end the season in third place with them 11 points ahead of Aston Villa in fourth. The objective under Arne Slot next campaign will be to challenge for the title once again, with much resting on the summer transfer window.

Fortunately, the Reds will receive a welcome increase in prize money for their finish in the table. The Premier League, the richest league in the world, pays out about £2.5bn to all 20 clubs with each position paying out more.

Every place in the table is worth about £2.2m more than the spot below and the broadcast income is divided almost equally. The clubs shown live in the UK more often than not earn slightly more though all 20 clubs do receive an equal base payment from TV rights - which was worth more than £80m last season.

Last season, Liverpool received an estimated £161.2m for finishing fifth in the league. The figure they will claim this time is yet to be calculated but third place last year were awarded £165.m.

Alongside their estimated £27m from reaching the Europa League last eight, Liverpool would have racked up just over £190m in prize money ahead of the summer transfer window.
