Home Bargains shoppers in Liverpool have been slammed for calling the budget retail store the 'wrong name'. Back when Home Bargains was first launched in the city, there was an 'and' included between the two words on its signs.

However, in 1995, founder Tom Morris changed its name to just 'Home Bargains'. But for many people in Liverpool, it is still known as 'Home and Bargains'.

This was plain to see in the comment section of the store's latest Instagram post. Advertising its brand new £3.99 motion sensor outdoor garden light, the retailer shared a video by TikTok account Thenuttyfamily1.

In the video, the Scouse TikToker, is impressed by how much light is given off by the outdoor device, which only costs a few pounds and is fairly small. "Hi everyone, so I just wanted to show you this that I got yesterday in Home And Bargains," she began by telling viewers.

"We needed a little light in the garden to let our dog out at night. It is a motion sensor security solar light... It was £3.99 so to be honest, we weren't expecting much from it... but I'm just going to show you how bright it is and how much of bargain it is."

She then steps outside to show just how much light is given off. "Wow, look at that, well worth it," she concluded.

As much as the woman raved about the product, many viewers were distracted by something else entirely - her pronunciation of Home Bargains. In the comment section, Jo was quick to point out: "Home Bargains NOT Home and Bargain."

It wasn't long before her comment grabbed attention and sparked a debate. Lesley shot back: "It used to be called Home and Bargains! The lady who posted this is a Scouser, they still call it Home and Bargains."

Emma replied: "Always home and bargains." Emma Louise added: "Look it up! It used to be called home AND bargain!! They originated in Liverpool."

Jo then hit back: "It's been home bargains for 30yrs." Emma Louise responded: "So? We have always called it home and bargain in Liverpool, probably always will."
