One of Liverpool's hotels and venues has undergone a refurbishment, just in time for the summer.

More than £150,000 has been spent on the Sefton Park Hotel, which boasts a bar, restaurant and events space. Found opposite the 200-acre park, the hotel not only offers more than a dozen rooms but also serves afternoon tea and Sunday roasts.

The "carefully restored" Victorian Villa which is spread across three floors has 17 rooms, all with ensuite facilities as well as a self-contained garden coach house which sleeps up to six people. The lower ground floor houses the recently refurbished function space, including a draped marquee for weddings, conferences and celebrations for up to 120 for dinner and 200 guests reception-style.

A spokesperson called the venue "Liverpool's finest hidden gem" and added: "Sefton Park Hotel has spent a six-figure sum upgrading facilities at the historic Victorian venue including over £150,000 on the versatile wedding, function and event space. The outside space with Horse Box Bar has also been completely overhauled to provide a stunning terrace complete with new umbrellas, low level and poser table seating and stunning planting and panoramic views of Sefton Park."

The "jewel in the crown" of the venue is the newly refurbished outdoor terrace which has enough seating for up to 120 guests. The terrace has a fully stocked horsebox bar, an all-weather giant umbrellas and there are plans to install a pizza oven.

The hotel also has a rich history as it was the family home of the Beatles' original bassist, Stuart Sutcliffe. The owners have curated a gallery of photographs and memorabilia throughout the public areas as a tribute to Stuart’s musical influence on the city and beyond.
