Lizzo drinks tequila from her shoe during live concert as delighted fans cheer her on

Lizzo gave her fans a special treat when she performed the first of her two live shows in Sydney over the weekend.

The US rapper took to the stage at the Qudos Bank Arena to perform a catalogue of her hits for excited concert-goers in the crowd, one of whom handed the star a bottle of tequila as a special gift.

Lizzo, 35, had been busy chatting to her fans, taking photos and accepting gifts from them when she was handed a small stuffed koala and a bottle of the powerful beverage.

She was then urged to perform the Australian tradition of ‘shoey’ where alcohol is poured into your shoe before you proceed to drink it from the footwear.

Confused by the act Lizzo questioned exactly what she was supposed to be doing before succumbing to chants of “shoey, shoey, shoey,” from the crowd and agreeing to perform the iconic act.

Questioning the ritual she exclaimed: “My shoe? My shoe is disgusting. I can't drink out of my f***ing shoe, what's wrong with ya'll?"

However, the chart-topper did opt to cheat after removing her black glittery boot, and instead of pouring the alcohol out into the boot to drink it, simply placed the bottle inside her footwear before knocking it back.

Laughing she then asked the crowd: "Australia, how are you guys still walking if that's how you take shots?"

Lizzo performed a string of her biggest huts for the delighted audience at the Olympic Park on Sunday with a second show scheduled for Monday night before she heads to Auckland with her Special tour on July 26.

She joined a strong of big name stars to perform the act of shoey on stage for Aussie fans.

Earlier this year Harry Styles please the crowd at his Perth gig by glugging water from his shoe, meanwhile rapper Post Malone performed the act at nearly every gig when he supported the Red Hot Chilli Peppers on their Australian tour.

In 2017, Patrick Stewart did a 'shoey' at the Canadian Grand Prix to celebrate with Aussie driver Daniel Ricciardo.
