Amy Adams may be backtracking slightly on those claims she is "out of the DC Universe".

The actress, who has played Lois Lane opposite Henry Cavill's Superman since 2013's Man of Steel, recently shared that she thinks she won't appear in future DC films during a chat with Aquaman star Nicole Kidman for Variety's Actors on Actors series.

"I was in it for a while but I think they're revamping that," she shared at the time. "I don't know the details."

However, in a new interview, Adams seemed to go back on those claims by saying she doesn't actually know where she stands as far as her future in the Worlds of DC is concerned, telling Den of Geek that nothing's official either way right now.

"You know what’s funny? I actually don’t know," she said. "I haven’t had any official conversation with anybody. I was just talking with Nicole Kidman about it, and I was like, 'Oh, I guess I’ve got to be careful what I say!'

"But yeah, I haven’t had any word officially."

The change of heart follows Jason Momoa's dismissal of the rumours that Henry Cavill himself is quitting as Superman.

Speaking about his Justice League's co-star's contested future in the DCEU, the Aquaman star told Entertainment Tonight: "He's absolutely not [quitting].

"He loves the character and he's not, 100%. No, it's absolutely not."

Both Adams and Cavill have been busy with TV projects as of late, with Adams scoring a Golden Globes nomination for her leading role in HBO's Sharp Objects, while Cavill recently began filming on Netflix's forthcoming The Witcher series.

So, perhaps Superman and Lois will be back – they'll just have to find the time first.

In the meantime, you can get your Worlds of DC fix with Aquaman which is out in UK cinemas now and will follow in the US on Friday (December 21).
