The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has set the stage for the emergence of the Kang Dynasty, and the next chapter of this terrifying era will be revealed in Loki season 2.

Marvel’s new big bad (played by Jonathan Majors) was first introduced in Loki season 1 when the God of Mischief (Tom Hiddleston) and his variant Sylvie (Sophia di Martino) sought out the head of the Time Variance Authority (TVA), and came face-to-face with He Who Remains.

Sylvie unleashed the Multiverse during their confrontation with He Who Remains, and the event has had a rippling effect across the MCU ever since.

Now the show is returning for a second season to continue the story.

Loki’s first season ended with the trickster god finding himself in a new multiverse, one where Kang the Conqueror is all powerful and hasn’t hid his takeover of the TVA like his predecessor.

An official synopsis and timeline has not been revealed by Marvel yet, but it is expected that Loki will team up with Mobius to try and stop Kang before it is too late. It is unclear how Sylvie may be involved because of her and Loki’s fraught relationship following the events of Season 1.

Given the preview to the series that was shown at the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, it also seems likely that Loki will be travelling across the multiverse.

As yet, there isn’t a full-length trailer for the second season of Loki, but a preview was included in a trailer for what was to come to Disney+ in 2023.

The advert featured a few snippets of the new season that showed Loki, Mobius and Sylvie in various situations. There was also a teaser to the new season in the second post-credit scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

The scene sees Loki and Mobius head to the past where they are watching a stage show by Victor Timley, one of Kang’s variants.

Mobius comments that the magician/scientist doesn’t seem like a threat, but Loki warns that he is more dangerous than meets the eye. The clip acts as a teaser of what is to come in the second season.

Loki season 1 is available to watch on Disney+, and season 2 will premiere on Friday, 6 October.
